Bosowa Corporation through its subsidiary PT Bosowa Energy plans to develop a second 3x135 MW coal-fired power plant in Jeneponto, South Sulawesi, which will be an expansion of the existing 2x125 MW Jeneponto I coal-fired plant, to serve growing electricity demand in the province, Kontan reported on Friday.

The paper quoted Bosowa Corporation President Director Erwin Aksa as saying that construction of the power plant is expected to start next year, and to be completed within 30 months.

He said that Bosowa is currently in finalizing the EPC contract with China?s Chengda Engineering, which was also the contractor for the Jeneponto I plant.

Erwin said that about 70 percent of financing requirement for the estimated US$400 million Jeneponto II power plant will come from loans to be provided by domestic and Chinese banks.

The planned power plant will require coal supply of 1.3 million tons per year, he added. (*)
