BP Batam has strengthened its push to position Batam as a regional digital investment hub by supporting a major data center expansion project in partnership with PT PLN Batam and PT Digitalland Service One (DayOne).
The collaboration was formalized through a series of agreements signed on Friday (April 17), including what officials described as Indonesia’s largest data center electricity sale and purchase agreement (PJBTL), with a capacity of 511 MVA, equivalent to about 450 MW.
The power supply will support the phased development of DayOne’s second hyperscale data center campus at Kabil Industrial Tech Park in Batam, scheduled for 2026–2027.
Head of BP Batam Amsakar Achmad said infrastructure readiness and streamlined regulations remain key to attracting global investors.
“BP Batam is committed to creating a conducive investment climate through accelerated licensing and integrated infrastructure. This project shows Batam is ready to become a global digital hub,” he said.

The new facility builds on DayOne’s earlier project at Nongsa Digital Park and is designed to support high-performance computing, including artificial intelligence and cloud services across the Asia-Pacific region.
DayOne CEO Jamie Khoo said regulatory ease and infrastructure support were key factors behind the company’s expansion.
“This marks an important milestone in building one of Asia’s leading digital infrastructure platforms, including our Singapore–Johor–Batam (SIJORI) model,” he said.
To support sustainability, BP Batam and PLN Batam also signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a solar power project with a planned capacity of more than 200 MWp in Batam.
PLN Batam President Director Kwin Fo said the collaboration highlights strong coordination between regulators and infrastructure providers.
“We believe this synergy will further strengthen Batam’s position as a key investment destination and digital growth center in Southeast Asia,” he said.
Additional agreements cover integrated infrastructure support for the data center ecosystem, including fiber optic network development and critical facility services.
The project is expected to boost the local economy, create technology-sector jobs and reinforce Indonesia’s digital infrastructure capacity.
