BP Batam to develop new roads, bridges

The Batam Free Trade Zone and Port Authority (also known as BP Batam) will continue to develop new roads and bridges as well as expanding existing roads particularly linking industrial parks.

News portal liputan6.com quoted Boy Zasmita, Head of Road, Bridge and Mass Transportation Construction Sub-Directorate at BP Batam as saying that the projects would help improve competitiveness of Batam in Riau Islands Province as an investment destination.

He said that for this year, the authority has allocated Rp 49.3 billion for 10 projects including the development of new roads, improvement/expansion of existing roads and development of new bridges.

Meanwhile, BP Batam Director of Infrastructure, Herawan said that the authority will also son repair the Barelang II bridge after it was hit by the Eastern Glory oil tanker in January.  BP Batam as appointed a contractor called PT PSL for the project. (*)
