BP Berau, a unit of British energy giant BP Plc, is carrying out a seismic survey on the Berau, Muturi and Wiriagar blocks in Papua in an effort to find more gas for future Train 3 of the Tangguh LNG plant.
"The seismic survey would not be long, usually it takes only several weeks. It is the processing of data (obtained from the survey) that will last long," I Gde Pradnjana, a spokesman at oil and gas upstream sector regulator BPMIGAS said on Tuesday.
The firm is assessing whether there will be enough gas in the blocks for a future Train 3 of the Tangguh LNG plant, he said. (Bernard)
