BP disappointed at contract loss: Report

BP Plc is "a little bit disappointed" at failing to win a contract to supply 10 bln usd of liquefied natural gas to China's first LNG terminal, Zhang Jianning, BP China vice-president told the China Daily.

However, he said BP is still interested in supplying the second phase of the Guangdong project because it regards the province as a large growing market for natural gas.

Zhang said BP is "happy" with the Fujian project. But he refused to say whether BP would offer the same bidding conditions to the Fujian project as it did in Guangdong, saying negotiations are still ongoing.

The Xinhua news agency reported CNOOC as saying that BP would be awarded the contract to supply a second terminal to be built in Fujian province, if it offered the same terms as in its Guangdong bid.

CNOOC Ltd, the Hong Kong-listed unit of CNOOC, said supply discussions with BP were ongoing. (*)
