A unit of Global energy firm BP Plc said on Thursday that it was exploring options to invest in Indonesian biofuel industry.

"We are exploring options and studying the opportunity that may exist in Indonesia, but at the moment it's still in that very exploratory stage so there is nothing firm or definite we can say at this stage," BP Indonesia said in an emailed statement responding to Petromindo.Com?s query.

"BP globally has made its intention to develop biofuels activities quite clear over the last year. It has committed to invest US$500 million over the next 10 years in an Energy and Biosciences Institute, and it has announced a JV with Dupont to develop biobutanol, the setting up of a separate biofuels business unit and has $10 million demonstration of Jatropha in India,? it said.
