Anglo-American energy company BP Indonesia has expressed interest in Indonesia?s retail oil sector and in importing oil fuel, according to an official.

Erie Soedarmo, director of oil and gas processing and marketing, told reporters on Tuesday his office has received a letter from BP regarding for application of license to enter the retail sector, adding that BP had yet to conduct a presentation on that matter.

Once the presentation gets approval, the government will give the initial license to the company, Erie said.

Erie also said that a number of companies both foreign and local had expressed the same interest but he declined to unveil the names. ?We are quite surprise by the strong interest,? he said. (Godang)
