BP Indonesia commences public lecture series at Irian Jaya universities

BP Indonesia said on Thursday it had commenced a public lecture series on the oil and gas industry and mining technology in Irian Jaya universities so as to disseminate information about that industry to their students.

The public lectures started at universities in the Jayapura, the provincial capital of Irian Jaya, and are scheduled to be performed at the district level throughout the region twice a year, on a monthly basis for one year.

BP Indonesia is cooperating with the Bandung Institute of Technology to carry out the project. Presently, state oil and gas company Pertamina and BP Indonesia jointly operates the Tangguh gas project in northwestern Irian Jaya.

BP Indonesia has also planned to perform public lectures about marine technology in Irian Jaya next year, in cooperation with Surabaya Institute of Technology. The lectures will focus on offshore facilities of the oil and gas industry.

Also on Thursday, BP Indonesia and Pertamina launched the official newsletter of the Tangguh LNG project. (Leo)
