?BP West Java is aware of the pollution around Seribu Islands, but contrary to recent allegations, we believe the oil did not come from BP West Java offshore operations,? Vice President Executive of BP Indonesia Nico Kanter told news agency Antara over the weekend.
Earlier, Antara quoted a statement the Ministry of Forestry's Forestry Information Center that suspect the oil spill that polluted the Seribu Islands to have come from the operations areas of BP and Chinese oil and gas company CNOOC.
As a responsible operator, BP would fully support the government's efforts to try and identify the source of the spill and would fully cooperate with any comprehensive investigation, Nico added.
BP Indonesia operates 670 producing wells with 170 rigs in the Offshore North West Java block, which produces around 320 million cubic feet per day of natural gas and 27,000 barrels of oil. (*)
