State owned oil and gas company Pertamina and state owned electricity company PLN have strongly protested oil and gas giant BP Indonesia for cutting its gas supply from the Kangean gas field in Madura to East Java without giving any notice to its customers, Media Indonesia reported on Saturday.

"We wanted BP Indonesia to give us fixed schedules for its regular repair works so that we could anticipate if the company has to cut off its gas supply," PLN?s corporate secretary Muljo Adji AG told reporters on Friday.

BP Indonesia cut off its gas supply on Wednesday to allow it to carry out a regular repair work on its gas pipeline facilities. The halt in the gas supply however had caused difficulties among its big customers such as PLN in finding the fuel as the substitute of the gas because they were not informed in advance about the supply disconnection. The cut in the gas supply on Wednesday was the third in the last four months.

BP Indonesia?s Vice President for Communications Satya W. Yudha said that the supply had been resumed on Thursday with. He said that the supply would be maintained at about 140 million cubic feet until April 19 and, then from April 20 to April 28, the supply would be increased to 150 million cubic.

He said that the supply would be reduced again to 100 million cubic feet from April 29 to May 3. The supply would be totally disconnected from May 4 to May 6 due to regular repair works at the company?s gas well I and II. (*)
