BP Indonesia to hold meeting of E. Java customers on January 24

BP Indonesia has planned to hold a meeting with its gas customers on January 24 to discuss gas supply from Pagerungan off the coast of East Java, a company executive said Friday.

?We will hold a customer gathering on January 24,? Dharma I. Jenie, vice president of BP Indonesia?s Pagerungan gas project, told reporters.

BP Indonesia, a unit of world energy giant BP PLC, operates Kangean Block where Pagerungan gas field is located.

On Friday, BP Indonesia restarted operations at five gas wells in Pagerungan after repairing a leakage from an elbow pipe at one of the wells.

Temporary shutdown of the wells caused Pagerungan?s gas supply drop from 180 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) before the leak to 100 MMCFD.

BP Indonesia has preferential rights to supply gas from Pagerungan wells to East Java. Its major customers include state electricity firm PLN, state gas transmission and distribution company PGN and fertilizer makers.

East Java had faced a serious gas supply crisis since early this year due to gas reserve depletion in Pagerungan. (godang)
