Indonesian oil and gas upstream authority BP Migas said on Tuesday it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with US energy company Sempra Energy to supply 6-10 million tons of LNG per year to the latter's LNG regasification plant, which would be built in west coast of US.
"The MoU will study the possibility of supplying Indonesian LNG beginning 2007," said Rachmat Soedibjo, chairman of BP Migas. He said the MoU was signed in San Diego on August 28. The MoU is the second signed with North American LNG investor after last month BP Migas also signed a similar MoU with Marathon Oil.
Meanwhile, BP Migas senior official Djoko Harsono said that BP Migas is also in talks with Japan's Mitsubishi Corp., which is planning to build LNG regasification plant in California, and with US energy company Calpine Energy, which is also planning to build LNG receiving terminal in California.
