Natural gas supply from BP?s production site in Pagerungan, East Java has returned to its normal level of 180 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) after the company completed repairing a leakage pipeline in the gas field, a senior government official told Petromindo.com on Friday.

?Repair work had been completed, and this morning the pipeline functioned normally. Gas supply has returned to its normal level,? BP MIGAS deputy chairman Trijana Kartoatmodjo said. BP MIGAS holds the highest authority over the country?s upstream oil and gas sector.

BP detected on January 6 a leakage on a gas pipeline in Pagerungan field on the Kangean Block off the East Java coast. It shut down area gas wells causing production fall to 100 MMCFD, from the normal level of 180 MMCFD.

Repair work had been planned for completion on January 25.

Meanwhile, BP Indonesia vice president Satya W. Yudha said on Friday reparation on the pipeline had been completed Thursday evening.

?But, we still have to more carefully monitor the condition of the pipeline in the coming days,? Satya told Petromindo.com. (godang)
