BP says tender for China LNG supply opened in November 8

Anglo-American energy giant BP Plc confirmed Tuesday that China would open tender for liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply to industrial province of Guangdong in November 8 and had invited Indonesia along with several other potential supplier to participate in the bid.

?We have received confirmation that China National Offshore Oil Company (CNOOC) would open the bid in November 8 and Indonesia, along with Qatar, Australia, Russia and Malaysia are invited to participate,? Satya W. Yudha, BP Indonesia?s vice president for external and government affairs told Petromindo.com.

Satya said participants would be given one month to complete the documentation.

BP Plc, the sole foreign partner in the US$600 million terminal project with a 30 percent stake, has been widely reported to be interested in offering a stake in Indonesia's Tangguh LNG project in Irian Jaya to secure the Chinese LNG supply contract

Meanwhile, minister of energy and mineral resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro told Petromindo.com that President Megawati would discuss the issue with Chinese premier Zhu Rong Zi who is scheduled to visit Jakarta Thursday. (godang)
