Anglo-American energy giant BP Plc. is opening a tender to find shipper to transport LNG from Tangguh project in Papua province to South Korea and to Mexico

In a pre-qualification bid announcement released Wednesday BP said it was looking for time charter party contracts to fulfill commitments to deliver 1.15 million metric tones per annum (MMTPA) of LNG to an LNG regasification terminal in Gwangyang, South Korea and around 3.7 MMTPA to an LNG regasification terminal in Baja California, Mexico.

BP is looking for LNG tankers with capacity range of 125,000 m3 to 165,000 m3.

BP-operated Tangguh LNG project had signed final deal to supply LNG to South Korean steel maker Posco and similar deal will be signed soon with US energy trader Sempra Energy to supply LNG to Baja California starting 2007.

Interested parties must submit expression of interest no later than August 25, 2004. (alex)
