BP Plc has since last week commenced 3D seismic survey at its West Aru I and II PSCs in Arafura Sea, two deep-water blocks it secured at the end of 2011.
Dwi Nurcahyanto, Head of Survey and Drilling Realization Unit at SKK Migas, told petromindo.com that while the survey had initially targeted to cover a total of 9,000 km2 from both blocks, sub-surface issues forced the company to downgrade the target to 5,000 km2.
Dwi estimated the survey would be completed by the third week of September.
The survey is being carried out by WesternGeco, a unit business segment of New York-listed Schlumberger.
