BP Indonesia, a unit of energy giant BP plc, has planned to acquire a four component (4C) Ocean Bottom Cable (OBC) dataset over an approximately 70-120 sqkm area in Vorwata gas field of the Berau PSC in Papua Province.
BP said in recent bidding information that the field of work is planned to start between November 2004 and March 2005 and it would be conducted in a water depth between 30 and 70 meters.
The giant Vorwata field, discovered in 1997 with estimated gas reserves of 12 trillion cubic feet, straddles the boundary of BP operated Berau PSC and the offshore southern part of CNOOC operated the Muturi PSC.
Gas from the two PSCs together with the Wiriagar PSC are jointly to supply the Tangguh liquefied natural gas plant project. (Robert)
