BP to submit PoD for Tangguh Train 3 in July: Minister

Minister of Energy and Mineral Jero Wacik said on Thursday that BP Plc, the leader of Tangguh consortium, will submit the Plan of Development (PoD) for a third train at the Tangguh LNG plant in West Papua in July this year.

The minister made a statement after a meeting with visiting BP executives, including BP Group Chief Executive Robert W. Dudeley and BP Indonesia Head of Country Dharmawan Samsu.

He said Tangguh Train 3 will have a capacity of 3.8 million tons per annum (mtpa) with 40 percent of the capacity allocated to meet the domestic needs. It is expected to come onstream in 2018.

?Forty percent of the capacity is a big volume,? Jero told reporters.

BP will submit the PoD after finalizing the certification of reserve for the new train, which is now in progress, according to Jero.

?The costs of the project are smaller than those of the previous ones as the blueprint for the new facility is already in place. I don?t know when they are going to start developing the project as reserve certification process has not been finalized and PoD and FEED for the project are not ready yet,? he said.

He said BP has pledged multi-year investments amounting to US$11 billion for its projects in Indonesia, including for the development of Tangguh Train 3.
