Downstream regulator BPH Migas has issued a new regulation that allows the opening up of small-capacity fuel stations (or mini fuel stations) particularly in remote regions regular fuel stations are non-existent, according to detik.com.

BPH Migas senior official Fanshurullah Asa said over the weekend that the investment requirement for mini fuel stations is much less than the investment requirement for regular fuel stations, which should attract businesses in the region to invest in such facility to better supply fuel products in the regions including border and coastal areas to serve fishermen.

Fanshurullah said that the mini fuel stations will have storage capacity of maximum 3 tons, compared to regular stations with capacity of more than 15 tons.

He added that local investors interested in developing mini fuel stations can apply with the local village heads, to be later approved by the local regency government.

He added that the price of premium gasoline and automotive diesel at the mini fuel stations is expected to be similar with the price at the regular fuel stations in the cities. (*)
