Downstream regulator BPH Migas inaugurated on Wednesday the operation of sub-agents in Selayar Islands regency, South Sulawesi province, tasked to distribute oil fuels in the regency.

The oil fuel sub-agents have been established in order to solve the fuel oil supply problems often faced by the local people in the past. The local people sometimes got oil fuel supplies but their prices were very high since the supply volume was limited. Selayar comprises several islands south of South Sulawasi mainland.

There are four oil fuel sub-agents now operating in the regency, namely Nursiah, M. Thoriq, Asbawati and Mahmud. They will get oil fuel supplies from state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina and distribute the fuel at prices set by the local government.

BPH Migas? Oil Fuel Director Henry Ahmad said the sub-agent system in Selayar could be probably used as a model for distribution of oil fuels in other remote areas.
