BPH Migas making comprehensive study on domestic gas

Downstream regulator BPH Migas has been asked by Presidential Working Unit for Development Monitoring and Control of Development (UKP4) to make a study on the business benefits and other aspects of gas being sold domestically as compared to exported gas.

"We were given one year to conduct this study,? Gas Director at BPH Migas Umi Asngadah told Petromindo.com in a workshop on Gas Pipeline in Jakarta, on Wednesday

Umi said for example the gas pipeline to be built from Cirebon in West Java to Semarang in Central Java will need about 350-500 mmscfd of gas and the gas will be most likely derived from the Indonesian Deepwater Development (IDD) in East Kalimantan. Yet, there is indication that the IDD?s gas will be exported, according to her.

"To change that, we were asked by UKP4 to conduct a comprehensive study. The study is now in progress," She said, hoping that the study could be completed later this year to be immediately submitted to UKP4.
