BPH Migas, the country's regulatory body on downstream oil and gas industries, will decided today on whether to raise the price of gas dedicated to household consumers and small and medium-sized companies, the Investor Daily reported on Monday.
Hariati, a commission member at BPH Migas, said that today's meeting would decide the percentage of the price increase previously proposed during public hearing particpated by gas producers and distributors recently.
Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN), the country's main gas contributor, has proposed an increase in the gas price because, according to the company, the current price of its gas has been too low to offset the company's production costs.
Hariati said that the increase of the gas price was also needed to encourage more players enter both gas production and distribution. (*)
