BPH MIGAS reestablishes team to monitor subsidized fuel distribution

Downstream oil and gas regulator BPHMIGAS has re-established a coordination team to monitor and supervise subsidized fuel distribution (TKP4 BBM) aiming at ensuring subsidized fuel is distributed to the right target.

Members of the coordination team include representatives from the Coordinating Ministry for Politic, Law and Security (Menkopolhukam), State Intelligent Agency (BIN), Police, the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL).

?The purpose of the establishment of the team is to ensure that the distribution of subsidized fuel meets the right target. To make it effective, the team will be coordinated by the Head of BPHMIGAS. The new team is more comprehensive as it involves wider government institutions and has clear legal foundation,? said the Head of BPHMIGAS, Tubagus Haryono, in Surabaya.

Tubagus said those found to have misused the subsidized fuel are certain recalcitrant officers, from various sectors, including business, bureaucrats and even fishermen. ?Given limited staff at BPHMIGAS, the coordinated team is one of the solutions,? he said.

BPHMIGAS is determined to reduce the illegal use of subsidized fuel, which was mostly found in Java and Sumatera islands. Tubagus said his office has received indications of illegal distribution network of subsidized fuel. ?We have received report that there are certain people who sell subsidized fuel to PLN. We are trying to prevent such things,? he said. (godang)
