Downstream oil and gas regulating body BPH Migas has eventually decided to synchronize the completion of three gas pipeline projects respectively stretching from Kalimantan to Central Java, Semarang to Cirebon and Semarang to Gresik in 2010, Bisnis Indonesia Daily reported on Tuesday.

“Indeed, the decision was just signed. The synchronized projects must have been completed in 2010,” head of BPH Migas Tubagus Haryono said.

The three gas pipeline projects should be completed at the same time because all of them will end up being connected with each other with gas supplies from East Kalimantan.

BPH Migas's committee member Trijono however said there would not be any penalty to company who fail to complete the construction of the pipeline on time.

The 258 km, Gresik- Semarang pipline project is owned by state oil and gas firm PT Pertamina, the 228 km, while Cirebon-Semarang pipeline project belongs to PT Rekayasa Industri and the 1,219 km and  East Kalimantan-Central Java pipeline project to PT Bakrie & Brothers Tbk.

Bakrie & Brothers President Director Bobby Gafur welcome the decision, saying the company had prepared to start the construction of the East Kalimantan-Central Java project. (*)
