BPH Migas shortlists bidders of PSO fuel contract to five

Five firms including state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina and main rival PT Shell Indonesia, a subsidiary of Royal Dutch Shell, have passed the preliminary selection of bidders to distribute subsidized fuels in 2010.

The other three firms are PT Petronas Indonesia, PT Aneka Kimia Raya (AKR) Corporindo Tbk and PT Bumi Asri Prima Pratama.

BPH Migas's Chairman Tubagus Haryono said on Tuesday the five firms had passed the "administrative selection" and BPH Migas is evaluating their "technical" capabilities.

Analysts say aside from Pertamina, Shell has a big chance to get the contract in view of its large network of gas stations.

"The winner(s) of the tender will be announced in the middle of this month," Tubagus said. (Kanti)
