BPI optimistic PLTU Batang to start commercial operation in May 2020

PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI) is optimistic that its 2x1,000 MW Batang coal-fired power plant (PLTU) project in Central Java to start commercial operation in May of 2020.
?We?re optimistic this project to be completed in line with the target,? said BPI President Director Mohamad Effendi recently to Petromindo.com.
BPI, the owner of the project, is a consortium comprising of Itochu (32 percent), Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. (34 percent), PT Adaro Power (34 percent), a wholly owned subsidiary of IDX-listed coal mining firm PT Adaro Energy Tbk.
The consortium officially started in June of last year construction of the estimated US$4.2 billion project after signing loan agreement with a number of international lenders. It has signed a 25-years Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).
