Private power company PT Bukit Pembangkit Innovative (BPI) plans to expand the capacity of its 2x110 MW Banjarsari coal-fired power plant in Lahat Regency, South Sumatra Province.

BPI Director for General Affairs and Finance Sri Andini told Petromindo.com on Thursday the company plans to develop new generating units with capacity of 300 MW.

She said that BPI has proposed the expansion plan to state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, and hopes the project would be included in the upcoming new 2017-2025 electricity procurement business plan (or RUPTL) of PLN.

?We have already proposed our plan to expand the capacity to PLN, and we?re still waiting for the response of PLN,? Sri said.

Sri added that the land required for the expansion has been ready, while financing will among others come from bank loans, either domestic or foreign banks. No further details were provided.
