Power company PT Bukit Pembangkit Innovative (PT BPI) has sent state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) a proposal to expand the capacity of its Banjar Sari mine mouth power plant in Merapi Timur district, Lahat regency, South Sumatera province, about 200 km from Palembang.

Sri Andini, BPI?s director told Petromindo.com on Thursday that the company is waiting for response from PLN. ?We have sent the proposal, and is waiting for a feedback from PLN,? she said.

Sri said BPI proposed to add 300 MW capacity to the power plant which now has a capacity of 2x110 MW. ?After the expansion, the power plant will have a 500 MW capacity,? she said, while noting that the power plant was initially designed with a maximum capacity of 500 MW.

She earlier said that the company had conducted feasibility study for the expansion project. Transmission lines have been installed there, which are able to accept up to 500 MW. ?Hence, there will be no problem for transmission system if we add the capacity of the Banjar Sari power plant,? she said.
