BPMIGAS: 21 WKs under explorations in west Papua

Upstream authority BPMIGAS recorded that there are a total of 21 Working Areas (WKs) that will be explored in west Papua this year. The WKs are located nearby five oil and gas blocks that are already in production stage.
The upstream authority said the main obstacles being encountered by the contractors of the WKs are permit-related issues.
?One of difficulties of exploration activities in Papua is permit from related agencies. Some (WKs) are located in swamp areas, which requires additional permit from Forestry Ministry. However, in principle we have a high hope for Papua,? Deputy for Operation of BPMIGAS Rudi Rubiandini told Petromindo.com.
He said the important thing is how to create a conducive investment climate in Indonesia, including in west Papua.
He said if the eastern part of Indonesia attracted investors, more and more oil and gas production sharing contractors will make further investment in west Papua.
