BPMIGAS approves 12 PODs

Upstream authority BPMIGAS has approved 12 plans of development (POD) for 12 oil and gas fields, which are expected to start production in the next two years, with a total investments estimated at US$830 million.

BPMIGAS said that during their peak production, the fields are expected to produce oil and condensat at 14.000 barrels per day (bopd), and gas at 150 mmscfd.

?Since January until August this year, BPMIGAS has approved 12 PODs. We hope that all sides concerned will support the implementation of the PODs, so that the national producetion can be increased,? BPMIGAS Planning Deputy Widhyawan Prawiraatmadja said in Jakarta on Monday.

The 12 approved PODS include the revised first POD for Kepodang field (operated by Petronas Carigali Muriah Ltd), and the POD for Sapi Field Phase-2 (operated by Chevron Indonesia Company).

Kepodang field is part of Muriah Block, which is expected to start production in the second quarter of 2015 with a peak production reaching at 116 mmscfd. The development of this field is estimated to require a total investment of US$ 545 million, consisting of US$ 159,7 million for drillings and US$385,3 million for constructions and facilities.

Sapi field, which is developed by Chevron Indonesia Company, is part of the East Kalimantan Block. Its phase 2 development is expected to be onstream later this year, with peak production of oil and condensat reaching 266 bopd, gas reaching 7,29 mmscfd, and LPG 153 mmscfd. The project will need a total investment of US$ 157,54 million.

The 12 PODs that had been approved are part of the 39 PODs that had been received by BPMIGAS so far. Of the other 27 PODs, 5 had been returned, and 22 PODs are still under considerations. ?We?re prioritizing to quickly make decisions on the PODs,? said Widhyawan.
