BPMIGAS approves 4, reviewing 8 oil, gas field developments

Indonesian upstream authority BPMIGAS has issued approval for PODs (plan of development) for four new oil fields proposed by its contractors and is currently reviewing other eight PODs, an official said Monday.

?BPMIGAS has approved four PODs, namely Rancak field development in Kangean PSC, E. Java (Energi Mega Persada), Anggor field (JOB Pertamina-Costa International Group), Gondang field (PetroChina), and Tiaka Revised POD (JOB Pertamina-Medco E&P Tomori),? deputy head of planning at BPMIGAS Zanial Achmad said in a hearing with the House of Representatives.

According to Zanial, other eight PODs that await approval are Ujung Pangkah field (Amerada Hess), Krueng Mane (ENI), South & West Betara (PetroChina), Kaji-Semoga Waterflood (Medco E&P), Sukowati Fullfield development (JOB Pertamina-PetroChina), P. Gading Revised POD (JOB Pertamina-Amerada Hess), Sepanjang-Pagerungan marginal field (Energi Mega Persada) and Bene Bekasap (BOB Pertamina-Bumi Siak Pusako).

Separately, the agency chairman Kardaya Warnika said BPMIGAS estimated that Indonesian oil and condensate production is expected to be reached 1.084 million barrels per day (MMBPD) in September or higher from August?s production forecasted of 1.077 MMBPD.

?We expect additional production from CPP Riau, Unocal, Salawati and Sukowati blocks,? Kardaya told the hearing, adding that the level production will reach 1,089 MMBPD by December.

Kardaya added Indonesian oil and condensate production will increase to 1.11 MMBPD in 2006. (godang/dino)
