BPMIGAS approves ConocoPhillips as operator of Suban III

Upstream oil and gas regulator BPMIGAS said it has approved ConocoPhillips to become the operator of the Suban III gas field in Corridor block PSC onshore South Sumatera.

ConocoPhillips partners with state owned oil, gas company PT Pertamiina in developing the block.

?We (BPMIGAS) have signed the approval that ConocoPhillips becomes the operator of Suban III. The signing was done this week,? Spokesperson of BPMIGAS Gde Pradnyana told Petromindo.com.

Gde said that currently the operator together with BPMIGAS are discussing the allocation of the gas to potential domestic buyers.

Gde however declined to disclose the names of potential buyers of the gas from the field or the volume of gas to be sold.

Pertamina said earlier that the gas allocation to domestic buyers will depend on the capability of domestic buyers to absorb the gas at competitive price compared to export gas market price. (godang)
