Upstream oil and gas regulator BPMIGAS has asked PT Bumi Siak Pusako-Pertamina Hulu Energi Joint Operation Body (BSP-PHE JOB) to boost oil production at CPP Block in onshore Central Sumatera by drilling more wells and applying enhanced oil recovery (EOR) at its matured wells.

?CPP Block production tends to decline. Therefore, aggressive efforts are needed to boost production by drilling more wells and applying advanced technology such as EOR,? Rudi Rubiandini, Deputy Chairman for Operation of BPMIGAS, told Petromindo.com

Salis Aprilian, President Director of PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), a subsidiary of state oil and gas company PT Pertamina, said at present CPP block production hovers at between 16,500 to 17,500 barrels oil per day (bopd).

In response to BPMIGAS call, the BSP-PHE JOB will drill a total of 11 wells this year, comprises of 7 development wells and four exploration wells, said Salis.

Salis noted the operator will cooperate with Research and Development Centre for Oil and Gas Technology (Lemigas) to help the operator in selecting the suitable chemical materials to be injected into wells.

The JOB reported that the realized production in 2011 reached 16,233 BOPD, below its production target of 17,000 BOPD.

In 2011, it drilled 9 wells, slightly lower than its target of drilling 10 wells. It failed to drill one more well as it did not obtain permit from local government. The plan to drill the well will be carried over to 2012.

In addition, the operator carried out well service of 206 wells, compared to target of 200 wells, resulting in additional production of 1,481 BOPD, lower than target of 2,144 BOPD.

The company plans to ramp up production to 17,000 BOPD in 2012. To clean up a number of wells which are now affected by the flood, the company will rent 100 units of SR pump so that the wells return to normal.
