BPMIGAS asks oil-gas producing regions to create friendly investment climate

Upstream oil and gas regulator BPMIGAS has conducted workshop with nine regency and three provincial governments from Maluku, Papua and West Papua, in a bid to create more friendly investment climate.

Head of the Representative General Affairs Division at BPMIGAS, Mulyani Wahyono, said many investors are coming to invest in this region. Responding to the interest of investors, regional governments should undertake preparatory steps by providing more investment friendly regulations and infrastructure so that investors can realize their investment.

?Investors need the support from all stakeholders, including regional governments, the community and other stakeholders so that they can run their business and comply with applicable regulations,? Wahyono said.

During the workshop, regional government officials were given overview of oil and gas industry and revenue sharing by officials of BPMIGAS, the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry and the Finance Ministry.

Three provincial governments that took part in the workshop were Papua, West Papua and Maluku provinces. The nine regency governments that participate in the event were regency governments of Sorong, Fakfak, Raja Ampat, Kaimana, Teluk Bintuni, Mamberamo Raya, East Seram, Central Maluku and Southeast West Maluku. The workshop was held on Thursday and Friday last week. (roffie/romel)
