Upstream oil and gas authority BPMIGAS earlier this week signed a production sharing contract for Anambas block offshore Natuna Sea with Sanyen Oil and Gas Limited, a subsidiary of Malaysia-based Genting Oil & Gas Limited.
According to the Directorate General Oil and Gas at Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the size of concession area given to Sanyen was 3,236.74 sq km or greater than previous offered of 2,989.0 sq km.
Anambas is one of eight blocks, which were tendered to investors through a direct offering system earlier this year. Genting initially withdrew from the bid for the block.
Meanwhile, it remains unclear whether the terms and conditions for the block are still the same with previous offer.
Anambas block is an offshore open area of West Natuna Basin located in the north of Anambas Islands. The distance of the area from Jakarta is about 1240 km. (Robert)
