BPMIGAS, BP Indonesia conduct after earthquake checking

Upstream authority BPMIGAS and BP Indonesia are conducting a full checking of Tangguh liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant in West Papua, following the 5.7 Richter Scale earthquake that hit the area last Saturday.

?Currently, both BPMIGAS and BP Indonesia are conducting a full checking of all facilities in Tangguh LNG plant and we expect that there will be no disruption to any process of production,? said Gde Pradnyana, Division Head for Public Relations, Security, and Formality at BPMIGAS.

Reportedly, there was no victim or injury caused by the earthquake.

Based on the report by Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the earthquake occurred on Saturday at 08.24 western Indonesia time and was centered at sea 83 kilometer northeast of Bintuni.

As part of preventive actions against any untoward effects after the earthquake, offshore platform VRA had been manually put off. As a result, LNG train 2 had to be temporarily stopped because gas supply from the platform had been stopped.

But the offshore platform VRB and LNG train 1 has continued operation as usual according to its normal capacity.
