BPMIGAS calls on Inpex to speed up Abadi field development

The development of delineation wells is aimed at discovering additional gas reserves, which is needed to fast forward the development of the field.
?Information on additional reserves will help the PSC (production sharing contractor) to find investor,? said Deputy Chairman for Operation of BPMIGAS, Rudi Rubiandini.
Rudi added the acceleration of the Abadi field is ?very important? in order to help increase national gas supply.
INPEX discovered gas when it drilled the Abadi-1 well in 2000. Subsequent appraisal works, including the drilling of six appraisal wells, confirmed sufficient gas reserves for an LNG development project. Gas reserves of the field are estimated to reach 5 trillion cubic feet (TCF).
The operator plans to develop a floating LNG on the field (FLNG) with production capacity of 2.5 million tonnes per year. The FLNG is expected to commence production at end 2016.
The other facilities to be developed are including well installation, well head, submarine production facility, logistic center, LNG transport vessel. The total investment is projected to reach US$5 billion.
BPMIGAS said Abadi field is one of deep water projects in eastern Indonesia which are expected to commence operation over the next five years. The other deep water projects are Senoro-Matindok in Central Sulawesi, Sebuku block in offshore East Kalimantan and Peciko field in East Kalimantan.
BPMIGAS has approved the Plan of Development (PoD) for the Abadi gas field in December last year. The Masela block covers a total area of 3,221 km2 with water depth of 300 to 1,000 meters.
INPEX Corporation of Japan holds 90 percent interest in the Masela Block, with the balance owned by PT Energi Mega Persada Tbk. (romel)
