BPMIGAS: CICO actual oil, gas production higher in 2011

Tuesday, December 13 2011 - 01:46 AM WIB

The upstream oil and gas regulator BPMIGAS expects Chevron Indonesia Company (CICO) to record realized production of 28,173 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) in 2011, up from 26,221 BOPD in 2010, while gas at 157.4 MMSCFD, compared to 124.1 MMSCFD in previous year.

?This means that its oil and gas production was trending up,? Deputy Head for Operation of BPMIGAS, Rudi Rubiandini, said.

As for 2012, BPMIGAS expects the company to record oil production of 28,000 BOPD, while gas declined to 102 MMSCFD, he said.

Meanwhile, PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI) recorded realized production of 357,056 BOPD in 2011, from 370,462 BOPD in 2010, or down 4 percent from previous year. CPI's 2012 oil production is expected to further decline to 328,000 BOPD.

The CPI oil production still declined although the company has tried to prevent the decline by implementing the enhanced oil recovery (EOR) technology at its Duri field.

CPI has actually applied the EOR technology at its Duri field since 1980s. Gas plays a vital role in the Duri field as the field uses water-flooding technique in oil production process.

The company is now trying to apply EOR technology at Minas field with a different method, namely injecting chemical material surfactant into the reservoir. ?This is a pilot project,? said Rudi Rubiandini. (godang)
