BPMIGAS expands use of IT based operational system

Following a trial at five production sharing contractors (PSCs) last year, oil and gas upstream regulatory body BPMIGAS plans to expand the implementation of the integrated operational system (SOT) to 14 more PSCs this year.

SOT is an IT based system operated by BPMIGAS to integrate information management system at all PSCs. One of the benefits of the system is that it could be used to conduct an online monitoring on production data. With the use of the system, the quality and transparency of production data could be improved.

The SOT has been implemented since October, 2011 at five PSCs including PT Chevron Pasific Indonesia, Chevron Indonesia Company (CICo), VICO, ConocoPhillips, and Total E&P Indonesie.

This year, the system will be expanded to 14 more PSCs. They include PT Pertamina Hulu Energy WMO; PT Pertamina Hulu Energy ONWJ; PetroChina International; PT Pertamina EP; BOB PT Bumi Siak Pusako; Premier Oil Natuna Sea B.V.; PT Medco E&P Indonesia; CNO OC; ExxonMobil; BP Indonesia; Kangean Energy Indonesia; JOB Pertamina ? Talisman Jambi Merang; Hess Indonesia (Pangkah) Ltd and Santos Pty. Ltd.

?Once the second stage of the SOT implementation is completed this year, monitoring of 90 percent of national production could be conducted through an online system,? Deputy of Head for evaluation and legal affairs at BPMIGAS Lambok H. Hutauruk said during a workshop on Information Technology at BPMIGAS and PSCs 2012 in Surabaya Monday.
