BPMIGAS expects progress in 3 deepwater projects in 2012

Deputy Chairman of upstream oil and gas regulator BPMIGAS, Rudi Rubiandini, said he expects there will be more drilling activities in three major deepwater projects next year as part of efforts to boost oil and gas production.
The deepwater projects are Muara Bakau PSC in Kutei Basin, offshore East Kalimantan to be developed by Italy?s ENI; Abadi field in Masela block which is owned and operated by Japan?s Inpex Corporation; Gendalo and Gehem fields in offshore East Kalimantan, operated by Chevron Indonesia Company (CiCo).
Eni, through its Indonesian subsidiary, is the operator of Muara Bakau PSC with a 55 percent interest while GDF Suez holds the remaining 45 percent.
The Gendalo gas-condensate project, located in the Kutal Basin, is considered to be one of the deepest projects ever undertaken offshore Indonesia. Chevron operates the project, holding an 80 percent interest; Eni holds 20 percent. (godang)
