BPMIGAS: Hess, ONWJ, Medco meet 2011 production target

The regulator said in a press statement that production sharing contractors (PSCs) that have produced in line or higher than target include Hess (Indonesia Pangkah) Ltd. which produced oil of 4,712 barrels per day, 1,182 higher than target; Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) which produced 32,119 BPD, 1,119 barrels higher than target; and Medco EP Indonesia (S & C Sumatera) which reached a production of 7,572 BPD, 912 higher than target.
Among major PSCs that produced below target were Total E&P Indonesie which produced 82,232 BPD, or lower than target of 92,000; Pertamina EP which produced 123,518 BPD, lower than its target of 132,000 BPD; CNOOC SES produced 34,690 BPD, compared to taget of 40,000 BPD; and PHE West Madura Offshore only produced 13,796 BPD, lower than its target of 18,000 BPD.
BPMIGAS said it recorded there were various obstacles that hampered PSCs in meeting their production target.
Some of the obstacles were categorized as non-technical problems, reaching 1,234 cases. These problems were beyond the authority of BPMIGAS such as stealing of oil and gas equipments, disruption on operations due to protests, sabotage, threat, unplanned production halt.
The other non-technical problems were bad weather, delayed decision on the contract extension of West Madura Offshore (WMO) block, fire on FSO Lentera Bangsa owned by PT Trada Martime Tbk, and disruption on hose or riser at Kangean Energy.
Among technical problems encountered by PSCs include damage of lifting pipe and compressor at Udang Alfa and Bravo fields, lifting problem of BN-18 well in Bunyu field operated by Pertamina EP. Total E&P Indonesie encountered technical problem at a number of its field due to damaged on compressor and maintenance of Tunu field which lower its oil-gas production. (godang)
