Upstream authority BPMIGAS is hoping that Indonesian unit of China oil giant PetroChina and Talisman will soon reach an agreement for jointly using the oil and gas Betara complex facility being developed by PetroChina.

The Betara complex facility is constructed to support the development of West Betara and South Betara fields in Jabung PSC onshore Jambi, operated by PetroChina.

Betara complex comprises of Betara Gas Plant (BGP), North Geragai Facilities (NGF) and fixed process unit (FPU). The facilities will produce LNG, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), crude oil, gas butane and propane.

Meanwhile, Talisman needs facilities to process its gas from its Jambi Merang block.

?Both PetroChina and Talisman are still discussing the possibility to jointly use the Betara complex,? BPMIGAS Deputy for Operation, Rudi Rubiandini, told Petromindo.com.

He said Talisman needs processing facility. If the company constructed its own gas facility, it may take two years to complete.

Rudi said if the development of the Betara field is delayed, Talisman may use the Betara gas complex. In return, PetroChina may use equipments of Talisman in developing its West Betara and South Betara fields.

?However, if Betara fields would come on stream in mid 2012, that?s great. Talisman would then go ahead in constructing its own facility to boost its production,? said Rudi.

Petrochina said earlier that it expects peak production of Betara fields ? West Betara and South Betara -- to reach 12,250 BPD of oil and condensate of 18,000 BPD of LPG and 180 BBTUD of shale gas.

Gas from Jabung block is exported to Singapore through pipeline under 20-year contract.

PetroChina is the operator of the Jabung block with 27.86 percent interest. Other shareholders are Petronas Carigali (27.86 percent), PP Oil&Gas (Indonesia-Jabung) Ltd (30 percent) and PT.Pertamina (Persero) (14.28 percent).
