BPMIGAS: Jangkrik field may join East Kalimantan gas pipe network

BPMIGAS, oil and gas upstream sector authority, said Jangkrik field within the Muara Bakau PSC which is operated by Italy?s Eni Spa, may later join the East Kalimantan Gas Pipeline Network (EKGPN), Hardiono, Vice Chairman of BPMIGAS, told Petromindo.com.

?As chairman of the East Kalimantan Gas Management Committee, I invited Eni to become an observer during a meeting of the gas pipeline network members at end last year,? Hardiono said.

Hardiono said based on the meeting, gas from Jangkrik field will not automatically be delivered through the East Kalimantan pipeline network,? he said.

?The quality of gas from Jangkrik has to be cleaned and its quality must meet the standard of gas required by Bontang LNG plant. We are evaluating the quality and commercial aspect of the gas from Jangkrik field,? he said.

Currently, members of the EKGPN are Chevron Indonesia Company (CICO), Total Indonesie and Vico Indonesia. Vico Indonesia is the operator of the EKGPN.

EKGPN extends from the south part of the Mahakam Delta to the LNG complex of PT Badak NGL and also to the fertilizer and industrial plants in Bontang, transporting the natural gas from the three PSCs operating in East Kalimantan.

The majority of the East Kalimantan gas supply to the customers is transported through four pipelines with length of 56 kilometers, known as Badak-Bontang Pipelines.
