BPMIGAS?new chairman unveils 100 days program

The new chairman of upstream oil and gas regulatory body BPMIGAS, R. Priyono, unveiled a number of concrete programs during the first 100 days of his term.

In his 100-day program, Priyono promised to set up a task force in order to increase the crude oil production to one million barrels a day, to cut down cost recovery and to simplify the bureaucracy in BPMIGAS as well as to improve coordination with the minister of energy and mineral resources.

He will also speed up the processing of work planning and budgeting (WP&B) and authoriziation for expenditure (AFE) and revitalize the agency's role as the supervisor and, above all, as partner of coooperation contract holders. "We need to underline (BPMIGAS) as partner, not as a bureaucratic agency but a facilitator," he said.

Priyono become the next chairman of upstream oil, gas watchdog BPMIGAS following a voting conducted by House of Representatives on Tuesday.

Priyono, who is currently Director of Exploration and Production at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources got 45 votes while his competitors Hadi Purnomo and Evita Legowo garnered seven and zero votes, respectively. (godang)
