BPMIGAS okays Chevron?s deepwater gas fields PoD

Upstream oil and gas authority BPMIGAS has approved plan of development (PoD) submitted by US oil giant Chevron Corp. to develop its gas fields portfolio in the deep water area of East Kalimantan.

BPMIGAS Chairman Kardaya Warnika told Petromindo.Com on Tuesday that the under PoD approved, Chevron would be able to produce 800MMCFD of gas when the fields are fully developed.

Kardaya also added that latest update on the fields? reserves stood at over 5TCF of gas.

Under the Indonesian regulation, the PoD must get further approval from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.

Kardaya said in August 12, 2007 that the fields are expected to start production in 2012-13, supplying gas to LNG producer Badak NGL, which currently suffers acute gas supply shortage.

Chevron had submitted plan of development for Gehem and Gendalo hubs, which consisted of several fields. The fields are located in Rapak, Ganal, Makassar Strait and Muara Bakau PSCs.(alex)
