BPMIGAS okays ConocoPhillips, Husky PoDs

Upstream oil, gas authority said it had okayed plan of developments (PoDs) submitted by US oil firm ConocoPhillips and Canadian firm Husky Energy to develop their respective fields offshore East Java.

BPMIGAS Deputy Chairman Ahmad Luthfi told Petromindo.Com that ConocoPhillips is cleared to develop its Bukit Tua oil, gas field in Ketapang PSC, while Husky is cleared to develop BD gas field in Madura BD Block.

Luthfi did not disclose details of the PoDs but urged the two companies to immediately start development works.

Earlier reports said that ConocoPhillips will be able to produce 20,000 barrels per day of oil from the field and some 50 MMCFD of flare gas. Production is planned to start in 2010-2011. ConocoPhillips is in the process of transferring its 50 percent interest in the block to Malaysian firm Petronas, which holds another 50 percent interest in the block.

When development of Husky?s BD field is completed, production is estimated at 100 to 110 million cubic feet per day of sales gas and 6,000 barrels per day of condensate. The natural gas will be processed through a floating production unit and will flow via a 60 kilometre pipeline for delivery onshore to East Java. (godang)
