BPMIGAS said BP can proceed to build Tangguh 3rd train

Upstream oil, gas authority BPMIGAS said on Friday that BP Plc is cleared to proceed with development of the third train at Tangguh LNG project, West Papua.

Chairman R. Priyono said that the third train will produce around 3 million tonnes per annum of LNG.

?It?s a challenge for BP to speed up the project,? he said.

Priyono said government?s oil, gas research agency Lemigas has issued certification for Tangguh additional reserves, which is sufficient to build another train.

BPMIGAS Spokesperson Gde Pradnyana said in May 2011 that BP was in the final stage of study of the gas reserves at Tangguh.

BP currently operates 2 trains at Tangguh with combined capacity of 7.6 MTPA. (godang/giok)
