BPMIGAS says drilling of exploitation wells in line with target

The upstream oil and gas regulator BPMIGAS said the number of exploitation wells that were drilled in 2011 reached 970 wells, higher than the regulator?s target of 895 wells.

The exploitation oil and gas wells are expected to commence operation next year or in the following year.

BPMIGAS also said in 2011, there were more oil and gas working areas (WKs) that were signed, raising the number of WKs to 275 areas, comprised of 72 active or production WKs and 203 exploration WKs.

Of the 203 WKs, 10 areas are in the process of being terminated, 39 are coal bed methane (CBM) WKs and 154 are exploration WKs. (godang)
