BPMIGAS says Tangguh 2nd train to start production Oct

Upstream oil and gas authority BPMIGAS said Tangguh LNG project second train is expected to start operations in October.

BPMIGAS Chairman R. Priyono said that currently commissioning process of the second train is already 60 percent completed.

BP said in July the second train is expected to start production in the third quarter.

Tangguh is planning to shut down the first train for a few weeks this month rectify a number of initial problems identified during the start up phase of the plant.

Priyono said that findings during the shut down will also be used to prevent similar thing from happening in the second train.

Tangguh comprises the development of six gas fields in the Wiriagar, Berau and Muturi production sharing contracts in the Bintuni area of Papua. Gas produced from two normally unmanned offshore platforms is fed via 22-kilometre pipelines to two onshore liquefaction trains, each with a production capacity of 3.8 million tonnes a year of LNG.
