BPMIGAS says upstream operations unaffected by earthquake

Upstream oil and gas authority BPMIGAS said on Thursday that oil and gas operations along Sumatra and Java islands were unaffected by 7.9 Richter scale earthquake that hit Sumatra island on Wednesday.
?Oil and gas operations are unaffected and production activities are running normally,? Sucahyo Pratomo, BPMIGAS Field Operations Division Head told Petromindo.Com.
The earthquake, which thus far had claimed 10 lives, shook buildings in Jakarta and Singapore, forcing people to evacuate office.
A number of significant oil, gas producers are operating along Sumatra and Java islands, including Chevron pacific Indonesia, Conoco Phillips?s Corridor Block, PetroChina?s Jabung Block and CNOOC?s SES Block. (godang)
